| Expanding on Excellence GOAL—$2,600,000 | Development FAQ < |
Q.
I have been requested to consider giving a specific amount of money. How was
that amount determined?
We derived these amounts through a formula that includes giving history, responses to the feasibility study, and prospect screenings. We ask each family or individual to consider the amount as a prayerful request to be considered in a manner appropriate to personal financial capability. Q. What if I never make pledges? That would be unusual in today’s credit society. Most people take advantage of time payments to purchase homes, cars or any major item. A pledge to this campaign should be considered a “time-payment plan” that makes it possible for you to meet your school obligations without undue hardship. A pledge enables you to consider a more significant contribution than any one-time gift. Our campaign will not succeed without sacrificial pledges. Q. Is my pledge over and above prior giving commitments I am currently making to BBHS? Yes. The school has normal operating expenses that will continue. This capital campaign is for extraordinary needs and will require extraordinary giving. Q. What happens if I cannot fulfill my pledge commitment? Pledges are good faith intentions and are not legally binding. They can be restructured, put on hold, or cancelled as circumstances warrant. Your children do not “inherit’ your pledge. Q. Can I give something other than money? Yes. You can give appreciated securities, such as stocks and bonds. These are wonderful options because they have important tax advantages for the donor. Please call the campaign office if you have any questions. Q. When will this proposed addition and renovation project be started? We will begin construction as funds become available.
Q.
Do I Need to Make a Down Payment?
We suggest a 10% down payment when the pledge is made, but this is not required. You may give less, give more, or make no down payment at all. The important step is to make the pledge. |
